I'm with you. Instead of asking how we can get young blood into collecting, so many people are giving up and saying young people don't collect anything. That's simply not true. They might not collect stamps, but they collect other things. I saw it working at Disney (they collect pins, Vinylmations and now tsum-tsums). My son (22) and my niece (17) collect coins (and I didn't start them, but I fed their collecting bug). Kids collect movie toys, Happy Meal toys, Pokemon cards, action figures, and video games. Some collect Harry Potter books, or Fantastic 4 comic books, or hockey pucks.
Do young people go to casinos? With the growth of the casino industry, I suggest the hobby has a vibrant future - or a potential future. I got started by keeping chips and tokens from the casinos I visited. That may be the starting point for young collectors, too.
If your club does not capture the imagination of these young people, they will gather together on Facebook and start their own club. After all, one thing I have learned from collecting is that specific clubs can come and go even if the collecting bug stays the same.
