conversation that we have had a few time now I had a question for you.

If we pay a Director a salary should we consider also paying the Editors of the magazine?

Some clubs pay their Editors and for us the Magazine is the number one benefit to being a member.

Surely we should also pay them for their hundreds of hours of work every year producing the item that attracts so many members.

Lets then ask the next question:

If we pay the Editors, then what about the Membership Officer and Treasurer who spend countless hours every day handling memberships and financial duties including filing the yearly taxes and 501c3 documents.

I can take this down to at least a dozen deserving positions that could argue that they too should get paid.

As you can tell I am 100% against offering a paid permanent position within our club.

Now that may not hold true for the MOGH where I believe we will eventually need a paid director and possibly other paid positions but thats for the MOGH and not the club.

Just an FYI:
The ANA has spent hundreds of thousands on a similar position which many feel will be a big waste of money.
The ANA is down about 1/3 in membership over the past 6 years and has spent a TON of money on advertising as well.
Unfortunately they are running into the same issues we and other collector organizations are.
