I happen to personally agree that the South Point is an ideal place to have a convention of our size. Great entertainment, fantastic reasonably-priced restaurants, a nice poker room (which is a must), and so self-contained that you can spend an enjoyable 4 or 5 days without the need to venture out of the building. All of these are why we picked the South Point in the first place.
We'll look to see what deals are available around town but I'm not sure we can find a place that will offer a combination of just about everything we're looking for like the South Point does. The only negative I hear about the South Point is its location, and I consider that to be very much a mixed bag. I feel it's as much of a plus as a minus to be in an out-of-the-way property. While it's not in the middle of everything, it does encourage people to stick around. If we were to be, say, center Strip, people would probably disburse every evening so that there would be few of the chance meetings that can be so much fun.
