WHEN IN TOWN AND IF YOU HAVE THE TIME YOU GOTTA SEE "NELSON NEVADA" & NELSONS LANDING ON THE COLORADO RIVER. NELSONS LANDING WAS A STOP FOR THE OLD RIVER BOATS AND THE BOATS BROUGHT FOOD AND SUPPLIES TO THE MINERS IN ELDORADO CANYON. DOWN AT THE LANDING A HUGH FLASH FLOOD IN 1974 SWEPT AWAY THIS TINY COMMUNITY AND KILLED 7 OF IT'S CITIZENS. THEY NEVER REBUILT IT DUE TO MORE FLODDING AND MOVED UP THE HILL TO SAFER GROUND. TODAY THERE IS A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT WITH OLD ANTIQUE BUILDINGS, OLD CARS, PLEANTY OF OLD SIGNS, A RIVER TOUR GUIDE & STORE WITH COLD DRINKS, SNACKS & POSTCARDS. BRING YOUR CAMERA, A SUB SANDWICH AND A COOL OUTFIT TO WEAR AS IT GETS HOT THERE .... GO FURTHER DOWN THE HILL AND YOU WILL COME TO THE MIGHTY COLORADO RIVER AND A GREAT VIEW. NELSON IS ABOUT A 40 MINUTE RIDE BELOW BOULDER CITY ON THE WAY TO SEARCHLIGHT NEVADA .... LOOK FOR THE TURN OFF TO NELSON AND HAVE A GREAT FUN DAY ... WHO KNOWS YOU MAY FIND SOME TREASURES ... SEE YOU THERE, RICH BURGEL
