HARVEST STORIES FROM AN ADDICTED CHIP COLLECTOR

SOME PEOPLE HAVE COMPULSIONS TO GAMBLE, SOME TO AMASS FORTUNES AND OTHER’S, WELL THEY JUST LIKE TO WRITE STORIES. YEAH, THAT WOULD BE ME. I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED TO WRITE, NEVER WAS VERY GOOD AT IT; BUT I HAVE DONE IT OVER THE YEARS JUST THE SAME.
EVERY WEDNESDAY I AM GOING TO ADD A HARVEST STORY TO THE PAGE OF THE DAY.
I HAVE OVER 52 OF THESE READY TO GO AT THIS TIME, AND I AM EXPANDING THE AMOUNT OF STORIES AS I THINK OF THEM.
IF ANY OF YOU HAVE SOME UNIQUE EXPERIENCES HARVESTING, AND HAVE A STORY OR TWO, PLEASE; BY ALL MEANS SUBMIT THEM. I AM THINKING OF ADDING THESE ON THURSDAY’S POD, WITH YOUR PERMISSION AND YOU BEING ACCREDITED.

GRAND OPENING CHIPS

When I first started the category of Grand Opening, I included everything that had “Grand Opening” printed on the chip. There are a lot of Hotel, Restaurant, “L” Wing (Additions to existing Hotels) and Poker Room openings that seem to have taken an advantage of the collector along with the utilization of the advertising value of this special occasion, as well as being an announcement chip. In the future I will not include these “types” of chips.
I am going to try to keep only the true Grand Opening chips under the Grand Opening category. This will include Grand Re-Opening chips, which announces their Re-Opening (w/a different name) new ownership changes, after floods, fires etc. It will continue to include all Inaugural Voyages from cruise boats and gambling boats, also.
The other types will be sent over to one of the appropriate denom chip categories.
Hope this is something that will make the Grand Opening “Page of the Day” even more special when they are the Page of the Day.
If you notice something amidst the pages of the “New Grand Opening Chips”, that is not a true Grand Opening Chip, please identify it to me and send the information that makes it clear why it isn’t a G. O. And let me thank you right now for pointing this out to me.

AS YOU MAY HAVE GUESSED; THE STORIES I HAVE BEEN WRITING ARE SOMEWHAT OF AN EGO THING WITH ME. I LIKE TO WRITE AND MEMORIES OF HARVESTING IS WHAT I LIKE TO WRITE ABOUT.
I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT IN SHARING THESE STORIES, THERE MIGHT BE A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT YOU MAY NOT THOUGHT ABOUT WHILE YOU WERE OUT HARVESTING.
ALL OF THE STORIES CAN NOT BE STELLAR STORIES, AND THEY WILL RANGE FROM “HO-HUM” TO “R U KIDDIN’ ME”. I’M SURE SOME OF YOU WILL FIND SOME OF THEM SLIGHTLY AMUSING AND ENTERTAINING.
SOME OF THE REASONS THAT I ENJOYED HARVESTING IS THE LOCATIONS, THE GEOGRAPHY, AND MOST OF ALL I LOVED THE HISTORY OF THE AREAS I HAD TO GO TO IN FINDING THE CHIPS.
MY TRAVELS HAVE TAKEN ME THROUGH ALL OF THE LOWER 48 STATES. I ALSO TRAVELED TO MANY PROVINCES IN CANADA, MANY OF THE ISLANDS IN THE CARIBBEAN AND PARTS OF EUROPE.
PLEASE KNOW, THAT IN WRITING THESE STORIES; IT GIVES ME GREAT PLEASURE TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCES HARVESTING. NOW-A-DAYS MOST OF MY TRAVELING IS DONE BY PLANE OR BOAT.
I AM THINKING OF HAVING A GUEST AUTHOR ON THURSDAYS. THIS WOULD ADD SOME DIFFERENT TWISTS TO THIS FUN HOBBY’S HARVESTING TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS.
