The idiot NFL considers it is to be on the same level as PED'S, which is laughableat best. Jerry Rice freely admits to using stickem spray on his gloves once it was banned by the NFL, and linemen across the board grease their jerseys. If an unfair competitive advantage is the infraction it is laughabl. All one need do is look at Brady's stats in the Colts game to see that an unfair competitive advantage was not the case.
Regarding the argument concerning his refusal to turn over his cell phone; all I have to say is if I was the celebrity that Tom Brady is, with Gisele Bundchen as my wife, I would no more turn my phone over to the NFL nor anyone else who asked. Leaks are everywhere. I can just see the numbers of actors, actresses, musicians, models, sports stars, reporters, color commentators (Erin Andrews, Troy Aikman, Steven A Smith, Stuart Scott if he were still with us, God rest his beautiful soul), etc., who would be forced to change their phone numbers; not to mention should Tom have sexually suggestive or explicit photos of his wife on his phone. In addition, the text messages of every single Patriot were examined, as were those of the ball handlers. If Brady had sent text messages to any of these folks it most assuredly would have been known. Given this, the NFL effectually had access to Brady's text messages, at least those they were interested in.
There will be as many different opinions as there are butt holes (I once heard this saying using different terminology). Regarding current athletes in the NFL, who overwhelmingly hold the belief that Brady gained an unfair competitive advantage, it comes from resentment based on ignorance as the belief that the "can't go for the knees of a QB" rule was specifically designed and written for Tom Brady. I am laughing because not only is this absurd, it is a fact the very first time this rule infraction was flagged following the rule change in the off season, it just happened to be during a game in which Brady was the QB, and the PF (at least I think it is considered a personal foul) was called based on a hit Brady took. I would be remiss if I failed to mention that there are other reasons as to why the public (who are not Patriot fans) and the majority of NFL players support this decision, and let's face it, hoped for worse.
The NFL is a joke at this point. Disclaimer: I am not a Patriots fan. I also watch several shows on ESPN, including SportsCenter, versus real world events interpreted to the public via NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, and CNN.
Y'all have a great week!
