I guess it all depends what you are looking for? Buy in? Structure? Location?
The Aria 1 pm is my favourite Daily tournament in Las Vegas. $125 Buy in. The free Watermelon juice for players, is not to be missed. Fantastic structure. 30 minute levels. But this tournament can often go 8-9 hours, and that can be quite a commitment for some. Not to mention the players in this one can be much tougher than the usual mix of drunk tourists and local nits.
If you are looking for an inexpensive, fun tournament, Walter hit the nail on the head with the MGM Grand 11 am. Only a $65 buy in for $15,000 starting chips. 15 minute levels increase to 20 later in the tournament. Everyone seemed to be having a good time the one I played in. Players are rather easy and predictable.
The new poker room manager at the Golden Nugget has done some great things to the tournaments there. He's really improved the structures of the Dailies there, and if you find yourself downtown, you may want to check them out.
Planet Hollywood might be the best value of all the Caesars/Harrah's Domination Network of casinos. They recently moved their poker room near the Earl of Sandwich and the Miracle Mile shops. Not a fan of the new location. Buy they do offer a $1,500 guarantee and have the best structure of all the CET properties, along with Caesar's Palace. AVOID Bally's/Paris/Flamingo, etc. as they have terrible structures.
Monte Carlo 2 p.m. rebuy tournament isn't bad and generally has some of the worst players you will find. Easy pickings.
Mirage Poker Room is still closed for remodeling. (I believe)
Orleans is a very good room with tournaments at 12 and 7. Similar locals vibe as South Point, but better tournaments.
Of course the Belagio/Venetian/Wynn troika all have more expensive Dailies (all around $150 buy-ins) with relatively good structures.
Many poker players avoid the Venetian due to Sheldon Adelson's anti-online poker views..that being said the Venetian room is a terrific room and the Deep Stack Extravaganza is a great series. And if you are a cash player, in May, the Venetian has a special promotion of $2 rake with no jackpot drop on ALL games, ALL month long. That is the lowest rake you will find anywhere.
