Each year, the "Around The Island Swim" is held. This marathon event attracts world class swimmers. The start and finish of this grueling race begins and ends at Gardner's Basin. The swimmers then head out the Absecon Inlet into the Atlantic Ocean, swim down the Atlantic City coast past Ventnor and Margate, then into the back bays to under the Brigantine Bridge and Harrah's (in the background) and back into the Gardner's Basin finish line.
