I don't know about AC or Nevada but I know that in Tunica there are about 1/3 as many machines as there were 10 years ago. I stay at Hollywood and before the recession you could barley walk between the slot machines there were so many. The aisles were about 2 feet wide and were hundreds of feet long with machines on both sides. Now most of the machines are in a carrousel with 10 feet or more between the carousels. The aisles are now 10 feet wide also and some of the machines are at odd angles so that the floor doesn't look as empty as it really is. Back in the days when casinos actually purchased the machines they would stay on the floor forever. Now with most being rented they get returned if they don't produce the expected profits and if the economy is bad they are not producing.
