When the Bicycle club opened in 1984, they gave away 100 of the Silver commemorative coins to the first 100 customers. I was in line 1 hr. early and got my coin, it opened at 8pm, I remember the many search lights, and a big crowd. The rest of the story, the bike was shut down by the government, I think for tax problems, or ownership problems. The club was run by the authorties, for a while, then Haig Kelegian purchased the club. Haig also owns the Ocean Eleven card club in Oceanside. One day I was playing poker with Haig, at Oceans Eleven, and I asked about the Silver commemorative coin. He told me the rest of the story. When he purchased the Bike, noone had the combination to the very large safe in the office. So he had safe crackers open the safe, and inside many items, including about 50 of these Silever coins. I asked what he was going to do with them? He said keep them for himself, and will not sell any. This conversation was about 10-12 years ago. I sold mine for 25.00 five or eight years ago.
