Disclaimer: I am not, and never have been a Patriots, Colts or Seahawks fan.
"Deflate Gate" has been spun six ways to Sunday to which I have deduced the following:
1) The NFL Executive V.P. of Football Operations, Troy Vincent, confirmed in an interview airing on Showtime last night that Ryan Grigson, GM for the Indianapolis Colts, told the NFL in the second quarter of the AFC Championship Game the Patriots might be tampering with the footballs.
2) One football was found to be 2 pounds under the 12.5 minimum and the football in question, which was thrown by Tom Brady and intercepted by D’Kwell Jackson, LB for the Indianapolis Colts.
3) The majority of the footballs tested were a tick under the 12.5 minimum.
3) When initially interviewed, D'Kwell Jackson stated that he did not notice anything different about the ball he intercepted.
4) When asked at the Pro Bowl D'Kwell Jackson specifically refuted the idea that he believed that the football felt flat saying he wanted the equipment guys to save the football for him as a souvenir.
5) There is no evidence to suggest that under inflated footballs are a competitive advantage rather than a competitive disadvantage, which has been the presumptive narrative throughout.
6) During the 1st half of the AFC Championship game Brady was 11-for-21 for 95 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception leading the Patriots to 17 points using what are "presumed" to be under inflated footballs.
7) During the 2nd half of the AFC Championship game Brady was 26-for-29 for 225 yards with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions leading the Patriots to 28 points using what are known to be properly inflated footballs.
In conclusion, if we are to believe the allegations that Tom Brady purposefully used under inflated footballs to gain a competitive advantage we need only to look to the statistics to show this to have been an incredibly ill conceived notion on his part. The statistics support under inflated footballs served as a competitive disadvantage for Brady while properly inflated footballs served as a competitive advantage. One might suggest this was further evidenced by Tom Brady's play in the the Superbowl.
