Auction here on the board! Starts Sunday...

Greetings to One and All.

Subsequent to some of the discussions on recent threads, I'm going to try a "different" auction format here on the board, with items aimed at some of the newer collectors. It's not a "new" format, I just can't remember what it's called. So, "Pick All You Want" will have to do for now.

The format/rules. I'm going to post about 100 $1.00 chips from all over. LV AC Reno Tahoe Mid-West etc.
Winning bidder can pick one chip, or as many chips as they want, at the winning bid amount per each chip selected. So, if the winning bid is $2.38, and the winner decides they want 8 of the chips at that price, total price $19.04 (+ shipping).

The next round of the Auction then starts anew, next winning bidder selects however many chips they want times the winning bid amount from those that are left after the previous round. We'll go several rounds until there are no (or not many) chips left or no bids at or above the minimum opening bid.

Bidding increments are to be at least 10 cents more than the previous bid. Does not have to be exactly 10 cents more i.e. if you want to bump the previous bid by 12 cents or 17 cents (or 50 cents !), have at it! This will hopefully give a feeling of a bit of strategy to the bidding, not just who saw it first when posted, unless they put up a $10.00 bid to pick that one chip they must have...

Bids are to be posted on the board in the same thread of the currently open round. The other folks and I are not going to want to go looking all over for bids left in another or new thread. Posts on the board, in the current thread, in the order posted in the thread are "official".

2 rounds per week. Ending Sunday's and Thursday's at 8pm Pacific time (not board time).

Winning bidder needs to give me their choices by "the end" of the next day so I can revise the scans to show what's left for the next round. So, for the round ending on Thursday, you need to let me know by Friday, so I can re-post by Friday night or Saturday for the round ending on Sunday. From the Sunday Round, let me know by Monday...

PAYMENT & SHIPPING. Cash, Check, PayPal if you add .45 to help defer part of the PayPal fees, that's less than the stamp to otherwise mail me payment. Shipping is $1.00 for one chip + .25 for each additional chip. 1, 2 or 3 chips at that shipping rate will be in a #10 envelope. Once we get to 4 chips, they'll go in a bubble mailer. If the .25 per chip extra gets to be a lot more than the actual shipping expenses, I'll give you a reduced fee quoted by weight. If you only win 1, 2 or 3 chips and want them shipped in a bubble mailer, $2.00 shipping charge.

Payment and Shipping can be combined for several rounds! When you win a round, let me know with your chip selection if you're hoping to win other rounds for some more of the chips at a cheaper price. When you've had a shot at all of the chips that you were interested in, then we'll settle up the account.

Some of the strategy/fun of this style of auction is that the chips you are looking at may not be what the other person is interested in. Do you go a little higher to make sure you win, or do you let it go and hope the high bidder for that round doesn't take the ones you had your eye on? I've seen bids in this style of auction be higher than for the previous round, as a new bidder enters the game, so hanging back to get items for a bit less does not always work!

If you really want to remain anonymous, or just can't figure out how to post here, you can email me, and I'll place your bid in the thread, but I can't guarantee that I'll be home, on the computer, in time to post your bid, before someone else posts a higher bid in the thread (or a bid that yours would not be 10 cents over). I accept no responsibility for missed opportunities in doing this for a bidder. I will not get into the game of "well I got this in an email an hour before this post", nor will I hold bids, until some given point, or take "buy" bids of just keep me in until x.xx bid is reached. Etc.

ENJOY. I'm trying to set this up to be a few weeks worth of fun in the acquiring of a few affordable chips! I can't wait to see if it works out or bombs out :-)

Comments and/or suggestions or any questions before this gets started on Sunday are welcomed. I've tried my best to proof read this, but I'm sure there are still errors in it, or what made sense to me reads out as jibberish to you.

Steve
