Although I have tremendous respect and admiration for the effort made to produce the Official US Casino Chip Price Guide (and enjoy referring to it often), unfortunately the 4th and final edition of this book was published in 2008, 7 years ago.
Since the publication of the last edition of Campiglia and Wells' book, we have added about 11,000 chips to The Chip Rack (there are currently about 35,000 listings). Additionally, we have deleted many listings for chips formerly thought to be from Nevada but since proven to be from elsewhere (a recent example being the large crowns from the Barrel House, formerly listed as Fallon, Nevada but which the manufacturer's records show to be from a card room in San Francisco).
Additionally, since the 15th edition of The Chip Rack, published in 2013, we have added almost 1,600 new chips and changed the values on about 500 that were previously listed.
The price of purchasing The Chip Rack might be considered high if you are a collector of, say, just current $1 chips, but if you're going to get at all serious about the hobby, I think you'll find that it is an indispensable reference. Some may argue that it is just a guide, rather than a pricing tool, but if you look back at any of the Chip Chat auctions from the past several years, you'll notice that most of the sales are spot on with the existing values in TCR.
And... even if you just collect recent chips, you can just use TCR as a checklist to see what you have and what you're missing!
