What does that "H" mean on the chips?

I have some old "H" mold chips (and some new ones made with the same mold). I've always wondered what the "H" stood for on the chip.

I know it could be simply a letter, like the A mold and the B mold, but I've also read that the mold was made for the H.C. Edwards Company of New York. Do we have any experts or historians here who would know what Mr. Edwards's first name was?

Thanks!
