Lots of what is seen in those posts are the results of chips/plaques that have been "reworked" that have come from Europe; mainly France, and the house of Caro in Paris... though the original engravings were done in several locations throughout France... and the new engravings in Ur.
In many cases the center field has been ground down for new engravings... and it's not uncommon to find previous monetary engravings still in place; such a F and P... and even portions of well-known monogram from France. Below is an example of a "reworked" piece which originally came from a much larger plaque as you can see the original serial number which was bottom center and is still there and the newly machined serial number is obvious. When the work got sloppy, the new engravings were done where the original serial number can be seen above the new engraving; up-side-down... and even more sloppy when an additional "0" was added on to the denomination... and the final touch was the pigmentation. I''ve had several pieces in a few stages of being reworked.
