The $5 Pick'em Auction is Now Open!
The Rule Revisions:
Let's see what the law of unintended consequences and out of the frying pan into the fire, do with these changes.
Rounds will end ~about~ a day and a half after I post: "Round [x] Now Open". So if I post on Tuesday afternoon, the round will end on Wednesday night 8pm(ish) Pacific Time. Each newly posted round will, of course, specify the ending day. As things progress rounds will likely be ending on different days.
Closing time for bids: Everybody seems to be a sniper, and this board is not set up for last second bids like feeBay. So the round will now close 5 minutes after the last posted bid(s) near the 8 o'clock hour. Example: Bidder X posts $5.75 at 7:59pm, then the time to bid extends to 8:04pm. Bidder Y then bids $5.85 at 8:03pm, now the time to bid closes at 8:08pm. Bidder X can re-bid or Bidder(s) A, B, C, can jump in with a bid, and so on, until no more bids are posted within the 5 minute time extension(s). [Silly Note: A bid posted at 7:54 (and earlier) or 7:55 will not generate a ending time extension, as you've still got 5 min to bid.]
Bids don't HAVE to be in the original "Now Open: post for the current round, BUT, don't hide them somewhere where the other bidders and I won't easily find them, and, make sure we know that it's a bid for the Pick'em auction. In case of a "tie" - 2 bids posted with the same amount and time stamp in different threads... I'll end up making a coin toss decision that will leave one bidder unhappy.
With the formalities taken care of, on to the Auction:
Minimum Bid to open Round 1: $5.00
In violation of the closing days mentioned above, this Round 1 to close Wednesday Night at 8pm Pacific Time. [In order to give everyone a chance to get a good look at all of this, and figure out what's on the menu. Then we'll go to the day and a half rounds.]
The full revised rules are at the end of this post.

And, now, finally, Presenting the Chips:
The format/rules. I'm posting over 150 different $5.00 chips from all over. LV AC Reno Tahoe Mid-West etc.
Winning bidder can pick one chip, or as many chips as they want, at the winning bid amount per each chip selected. So, if the winning bid is $7.42, and the winner decides they want 4 of the chips at that price, total price $29.68 (+ shipping).
The next round of the Auction then starts anew, next winning bidder selects however many chips they want times their winning bid amount from those that are left after the previous round. We'll go several rounds until there are no (or not many) chips left or no bids at or above the minimum opening bid.
Bidding increments are to be at least 10 cents more than the previous bid. Does not have to be exactly 10 cents more i.e. if you want to bump the previous bid by 12 cents or 17 cents (or 50 cents !), have at it! This will hopefully give a feeling of a bit of strategy to the bidding, not just who saw it first when posted, unless they put up a $10.00 bid to pick that one chip they must have...
Bids are to be posted on the board. Bids don't HAVE to be in the original post for the current round, BUT don't hide them somewhere where the other bidders and I won't easily find them, and, make sure we know that it's a bid for the Pick'em auction. Posts on the board, that are readily apparent to all, in the order posted, are "official".

Each newly posted round will, of course, specify the ending day. Ending times will be at 8pm Pacific time (not board time) on the given day.

Winning bidder needs to give me their choices by "the end" of the next day so I can revise the scans to show what's left for the next round, and post the next round's opening.
PAYMENT & SHIPPING. Cash, Check, PayPal if you add .45 to help defer part of the PayPal fees, that's less than the stamp to otherwise mail me payment. Shipping is $1.00 for one chip + .25 for each additional chip. 1, 2 or 3 chips at that shipping rate will be in a #10 envelope. Once we get to 4 or more chips, they'll go in a bubble mailer starting at the $2.00 rate in the chart below. If you only win 1, 2 or 3 chips and want them shipped in a bubble mailer, $2.00 shipping charge.
Weight & Price Chart:
1, 2, 3 oz $2.00 About 1 - 4 chips
4 2.15 5 - 7
5 2.25 8 - 10
6 2.35 11 - 12
7 2.50 13 - 14
8 2.65 15 - 16
9 2.85 17 - 18
10 3.00 19 - 20
11 3.20 21 - 22
12 3.35 23 - 24
13 3.55 24 - 25
at 13.01 oz the post office no longer offers First Class Package Rates. At 13 and above you have to go flat rate Priority Mail Box for $5.25 for any number of chips. That will also include $50.00 worth of insurance. If you want a smaller # of chips to fly in the Priority Mail Flat Rate Box for $5.25 I'll be most happy to accommodate your request.
The above weights include the weight of the packaging and the price has a few cents "fudge factor" over the actual Post Office (via PayPal) rates. The number of chips per weight is approximate.
Payment and Shipping can be combined for several rounds! When you win a round, let me know with your chip selection if you're hoping to win other rounds for some more of the chips at a cheaper price. When you've had a shot at all of the chips that you were interested in, then we'll settle up the account.
Some of the strategy/fun of this style of auction is that the chips you are looking at may not be what the other person is interested in. Do you go a little higher to make sure you win, or do you let it go and hope the high bidder for that round doesn't take the chips that you had your eyes on? I've seen bids in this style of auction be higher than for the previous round, as a new bidder enters the game, or someone's patience waiting for the chip(s) they want gives out, so hanging back to get items for a bit less does not always work!
If you really want to remain anonymous, or just can't figure out how to post here, you can email me, and I'll place your bid, but I can't guarantee that I'll be home, on the computer, in time to post your bid, before someone else posts a higher bid (or a bid that yours would not be 10 cents over). I accept no responsibility for missed opportunities in doing this for a bidder. I will not get into the game of "well I got this in an email an hour before this post", nor will I hold bids, until some given point, or take "buy" bids of just keep me in until x.xx bid is reached. Etc.
ENJOY! I'm trying to set this up to be a few weeks worth of fun in the acquiring of a few affordable chips! I can't wait to see if it works out or bombs out :-)
