Story cards were given away at the cage with the chips.
The following about my friend BoPo appeared an early 1997 issue. It was at the end of the article.

By the time you read this the Fiesta’s April Fool Chip will be out. We had a lot of fun creating it. Did you figure it out on your own? If not, let me try to explain. Even the youngest chip collector must have heard of War Of the Worlds, Downer’s Grove, and Orson Wells. On Oct 31, 1938 Orson scared the world with his famous broadcast. It did not take long before everyone thought it was a hoax. Orson had egg on his face. Now the real story can be told, straight from the mouth of an actual participant with an authenticated picture from that fateful night, BoPo the inept Zarivarian!! The 10/31/38 programmed on the leading saucer proves the aliens intended to be in Downer’s Grove on that date. No one ever knew why they didn’t show up. As you can see, the 2 mile sign is pointing east and the aliens being somewhat inept are going west. They traveled west for 57 years before reaching Las Vegas. BoPo the most inept of the lot, thought the Fiesta sign resembled a Zarivarian submarine sandwich. Even after 2 years, on a clear night you can catch a glimpse of BoPo gnawing on a corner of the sign. The other invaders are now gainfully employed at Area 51 as advisors on speed and accuracy in space travel.
