I got the white ACC in a trade back in 2007. All I had on it was the info on the Mason Card. Not much. I recently got a dozen very worn blue ones in an ebay lot. Could barley read a couple of them. Pitched the rest in the trash.
OH, THE HORROR!
But getting the blue ones spurred the "Illegal Of The Day" team into action.
From Ed Hertel: Quick search.
Boone’s Café at the address on the order. Clifton J. Entrekin was the manager. Boone’s Café and the owner E.V. Boone were pretty notorious.
My notes: I am elated, we now have a "Club" name.
We did an "Illegal Of The Day" on Phenix City, AL illegals on 5/25/12 posted at the below link. Also in this post is my story as a 16 year old buck private at Fort Benning, GA and my visit to Phenix City, AL.

I am aware of 3 states, Arkansas, Alabama, and Kentucky that brought in the National guard to close the illegal clubs. The governor of KY sent them to Newport twice. They failed miserably as the local citizens was happy with the status quo.

I’ve attached an 8 page report on conditions in Phenix City made for General Walter Hanna when he and the Alabama National Guard took over Phenix City in 1954.
My note: I will email this report to anyone that requests it. It lists all of the illegals operating in Phenix City.
Newspaper list from 1952:
Below is a 1954 pic of Boone’s Café where the ACC hubs were delivered in 1946 (Boone’s is on the far left). In 1946 Boone’s was at 208 14th, to its right at 204 was the Yarborough Cafe and next to Yarborough’s where the sign says “Quick Money” was the HQ of the US Military Police at 200 14th:
pic after the National Guard showed up:
A couple shots from the 1955 film “The Phenix City Story”; named changed to Layne’s:
My note: When I visited Phenix City in 1959 it was still "off limits" to military personnel. MP's patrolled the streets. It was not a good idea to walk the streets with an open collar wearing your dog tags.
This is "Illegal Of The Day" 279. All but the last few are posted at this site. The site is updated when time permits.
