Nice article Archie .... I opened Caesars (Boardwalk Regency) ... I remember the Million Dollar Pier that the Goldberg family controlled along with the old Howard Johnsons Hotel on the Boardwalk. Over the year's this pier has been re-molded, re-designed, re-hashed, re-built, re-done, re-hab, and re-named. I lived in A.C. before Resorts opened and boy 'o boy did Atlantic City blow it's chance to really become a entertainment destination. They turned away Sam's Town Casino (Boyd) out on the Pike ... along with Sea World at Garniers Basin ... A Cruise Ship Port ... A potential Universal Studios Park ... The Dunes Casino Project ... The Benihana Casino Project ... original Hilton Hotels ... The Penthouse Project ... The Camelot Project ... A Hydrofoil Express Boat from N.Y.C. and many other large investors / developers. The city got rid of or did not promote, rebuild all of famous icons and attractions that made A.C. world famous. The Diving Horse Show ... Wax Museums ... Hackneys Lobsters ... Captain Starn's Seafood ... The Heinz Pier ... The Garden Pier ... Steeple Chase Pier ... Famous wide sandy beaches ... The Airport with direct flights ... I hope this new project makes it. They need people to come and stay more than the day in A.C. They need more affordable rooms, especially in the summer season. I am rooting for a comeback ... remember Las Vegas was down and out several times in it's history and kept spending a ton of money on advertising and new projects. Gov. Richie seems to have a deaf ear on A.C. Just my opinion ... thanks for listening ... Rich Burgel
