The Crest Motel was on Ogden and 6th diagonally from the El Cortez. In the early 1980's I showed up in Vegas on a Saturday night without a reservation, and stayed in that fleabag for a night. I'm pretty sure there was a terrible incident there a couple of years later that involved a carbon monoxide leak or some such. One or two guests were killed as I recall. Perhaps a search on the LVRJ website might find it. Unsure if it ever reopened after that.
