I had an opportunity to speak frankly with a poker room manager at Harrah's Southern California (Rincon, CA) a few months back. It was a quiet Saturday afternoon and he seemed bored with sorting out the tournament chips into racks. So he took a few minutes to chat. He had worked for Santa Ysabel Casino, which as you all probably know, went bankrupt. And he told me he was happy to land a card-dealer job at Harrah's . . . BUT he was fearful since the company is in financial straits. I tried to cheer him up, saying with all those casinos in Las Vegas and elsewhere, it seemed Caesars/Harrah's was "too big to fail." He replied, he hoped so, but was still not convinced. When the employees begin worrying about bankruptcy . . . and openly talk about it . . . things aren't going well!
