"Desert Sands-Vegas "Authentic" $25 Gaming Chip
An authentic $25 gaming chip, not reproduced....Brought this home with me when gambling there mid 70's...been sitting in a box in my closet ever since.
The Sands operated from December 1952 until June 1996...Began as a casino with just a few hundred rooms. In the late 50's John F. Kennedy stayed there several times as a guest of Frank Sinatra.
One of it's biggest claims was the filming of the original "Oceans Eleven" with the Rat Pack...Prior to closing the Vegas scenes of "Conair" was filmed there.
Mid 60's Howard Hughes purchased...Final years the Sands began their decline and could not compete with the newer mega-resorts being built on the Vegas strip...and November 26, 1996 it was imploded and demolished.
With the Sands now gone and depending on the design and age their $1. gaming chips sometimes sell for about $30. and rarer ones sell at auctions for hundreds into the thousands.
This gaming chip is a nice piece of Sands and Vegas memorabilia..."
He's refering to the Sands, not "Desert Sands", so yep, IMHO I'd say this is misleading.
