I agree, and as a UK buyer you are right it is very expensive. What I am not sure though is why sellers only use it? As you have found, I sometimes look to bid on auctions that do not automatically offer overseas bidding and as a 100% feedback Ebayer quite often people agree. The issue seems to be that if you then just offer 'normal' overseas shipping which is cheaper, you have to just send a specific invoice, which does seem to be an option for the sellers willing to sell to me. Without offering overseas bidding, especially when selling foreign items (which I accept is not always the case) then there may be fewer buyers bidding on items.

What I can't understand is why the global shipping prices are so expensive, and who makes on the deal. Not the buyer or seller so is it Ebay or the USPS? It certainly stops people bidding on auctions where you can be quoted up to $18 to mail a single chip!!!
