It's hard to believe this record pertains to just "owning" a chip from each of X number of casinos. If so, that could be accomplished by anyone with a big bankroll just by purchasing them, either from another collector or from a dealer. I think Guiness is interested in records established in an "event", not those established by a lengthy process (like building a collection by buying or trading chips). This has to be bigger that the size of your collection. I think the record must pertain to your having visited and obtained a chip from the most number of casinos. If so, that would rule out the illegals and most unidentified chips.
The means of setting a new "record" would surely require documentation of your visit and which chip you obtained from each. I don't think a record obtained by counting the number of chips in a person's would mean much. But then, a lot of silly records are documented by Guiness .
