I tend to be kind of cynical myself, so I totally understand your post. In today's world, where "reality" t.v. is probably the most phony thing that's broadcast, you could be right.

Last night the commentators credited the ghosts of Yankee Stadium for the way the game played out, they could be right.

I don't pretend to know whether the events, and the ultimate outcome of the game, were planned, whether it was genuine, or whether it was supernatural. If it was planned, I guess it could be considered a fitting tribute from his peers to a great team-member and a great human being. And if it was planned, I don't believe that Jeter was involved in the plans. Just my opinion, of course.

While I'm not a sports fan I was interested in watching Jeter's final appearance at Yankee Stadium, because I admire Derek Jeter. He doesn't do drugs (neither mind-altering, nor performance enhancing), he doesn't get disorderly in public, he doesn't beat women, and he doesn't participate in the events that turn scandalous for so many of the athletes and "celebrities" in today's world.

Nearly 20 years ago he started the Turn 2 Foundation...to help and encourage young people to lead clean, healthy lives...and he serves as a great role model for those young people.

When the Yankees were playing at Tiger Stadium in Detroit about a month ago, for Jeter's final appearance there, he provided 2200 game tickets to people in Kalamazoo...his home town. The tickets went to teachers, City and county officials, the baseball team from Central High School (his alma mater), and their across-town rivals the Loy Norrix Knights (my alma mater ), and other youth and church groups.

Not a sports fan, but I am a Jeter fan...I wish there were more athletes like him
