Re: Impressment - technical term for accounting ..

I figured that's what was meant by the term on the roulette table inventory slip. And JohnC confirmed it was used that way in other casinos. I was wondering why the dictionary definitions I could find made no mention of the term except for the involuntary "pressing" of men into military service. I even Googled impressment with accounting and found nothing. I can only guess it's a term like "snapper" that sprung up in the casino industry and was carried on by movement of personnel (accountants, dealers?) from one casino to another.

I know, it really doesn't matter in the broad context of collecting casino chips, but I tend to be curious about things like this grin .
