() I get the feeling that I am getting POORER every year?
I don't gamble and never played even a slot machine or even bingo - cannot afford to gamble in the casinos. With the trend and the feeling of being squeeze and a disappearing man in-between the rich and the poor, the scale tip to the P side - as we often see in some posts here - sliding down the slippery slope.
The feeling I guess depends on where are you in life cycle.....
As Thomas Carlyle 19th century thinker who coin "dismal science" to economics - many families are in the "dismal status", which is not a "healthy feeling".
The casino economic situation in Atlantic City could cause "dismal feelings" to couple of thousands of casino employees, go into debts, could not buy their basic needs, the stores closes for lack of business, services deteriorates and so on and so forth down the "totem pole" in a "multiplier effects" one can just imagine the damping effects.....
How one reacts and acts again depend on which "dot" position and location are you in the "life line spectrum and continuum".
Just don't think of it - run faster for more chips and more chips. Chip, chip, chip away the dismal feeling to the glory of more chips at the other end.
