Here's the short version . One night in Michigan City, IN, two nights in Las Vegas, two nights in West Covina, CA, one night in Palm Springs, CA, two nights in Las Vegas, three nights in Reno, two nights in Sparks (NOT willing to pay Harrah's Friday & Saturday night rates ), one night in Reno, two nights in Las Vegas, one night in Michigan City, IN. Whew...! However many miles in the air, 2500 miles on the rental car, 3500 miles on my feet! Had a ball (everything but the gambling).
We were in an antique shop in Mound House, and the owner (I think) was telling us that he was going to be getting a poker table from the Mizpah Hotel, from the 1800's. He also told us that the Mizpah is open again, as a hotel only...no gambling.
So, on the way from Reno to Las Vegas, we stopped in Tonapah and visited the Mizpah. I was kind of excited to see some slot and video poker machines...the Mizpah has gaming again! There were some machines in the bar top, but all said "out of service". We wandered around for a few minutes and I snapped some pictures. I wish we'd talked to someone...asked a few questions, but we didn't.
I was going to tell a little history here, but Google & Wiki know more than I do, and they say it better. So I'll settle for showing pictures of our visit...and some of our Mizpah stuff.
