We were speculating at work that it was an inside job. The plastic boxes mentioned that were stolen were NRT Cassettes (TITO redemption machine). Basically the ex-guard knew the approximate time of the NRT run from the cage and robbed the guards at an NRT machines or in route to an NRT machine. Generally the cassettes can hold up to 2,000 pieces - many casinos do not fill them all the way to 2,000 pieces. My guess that the hundreds were impressed with 1,000 pieces each and they may have gotten away with 1 full cassette and maybe a cassette removed from the machine.
