Many casinos have come and gone in Atlantic City but their chips were always redeemable by the follow on casino or NJ Gaming Control. The AC Club was the 1st NJ casino to go bankrupt. Not only are their chips not redeemable, but so are all the chips from the predecessor casinos - the AC Hilton, Bally's Grand and the original Golden Nugget (Wynn's). Some casinos have also posted chip redemption notices for limited edition chips. It seems the NJ Gaming Control requires a monthly accounting of all chips, including an individual accounting for each L.E. Some casinos got tired of doing this month after month and decided to issue a redemption notice to take them out of play.
