phone number give clues
As you probably know, we have a bunch of old Nevada phone books .
It looks like the card is between 1947-1954.
Here's the breakdown of information:
1946 Was too early; Cinnabar was at 106 S. 1st Street (but DID have the 722 phone number)
1947--we don't have a 1947 phone book, so the Cinnabar could have been at 122 N. 2nd Street as early as 1947.
1948, 1950, 1951, 1952, and 1953 ALL had the Cinnabar at 122 N. 2nd Street, with the 722 phone number.
1954--we don't have a 1954 phone book, so the phone number could have changed in 1954
1955 was too late; all the phone book listings had the Dudley phone numbers in 1955 (DU 4-5722 was the Cinnabar's phone number in 1955 & 1956...and I didn't look any later than that).
I wasn't able to find listings for Vera Billingsley or Violet Smythe . I was really hoping one of them would be listed, for another clue...no such luck.
In 1953 None of the phone numbers were DU (Dudley)...in 1955 ALL of the phone numbers were DU (Dudley). The DU was followed by a single digit (hyphen) then 4 digits. The majority of the single digits were 2s and 4s (with just a few 5s and 6s sprinkled in). Again; Cinnabar was DU 4-5722...the single digit was a 4.
I think the 4-4241 written on the back of the card, under Violet Smythe's name, might have been her phone number (when every phone number had a DU, I'm thinking that maybe they didn't write the DU...but that's just a theory ). So I think that was written in 1954 or later.
Hope this helps
