Re: In a past description at WorthPoint ~~~

I know this is an old thread but since I don't get on this board regularly I'll reply now.

The West Side Club was a Chicago place. It was at 2244 West Twentythird Place. I have some New information that suggests it was one of William Johnson's many clubs. Many of these dice turn up in very bad shape. I suspect the manufacturer, Aladdin Specialty, may have made a bunch of these as samples after the club was closed. The bad ones are plain white celluloid instead of the original french ivory.

I have the original die, but it was one of a number of dies that appeared recently used when I acquired them. It could easily have been used to make some fakes, but the originals are too common for that to be profitable for anybody. The many Las Vegas dies still lurking out there are another story entirely! I should mention that it was after I started quietly asking questions about possible fakes that the dies were offered to me. Nobody offered me any Las Vegas dies though!
