It never ceases to amaze me that people have no idea what their possessions are really worth. Yesterday Cindy wanted me to go pick up a few bags of mulch. On the way home, around 1 PM, I notice a yard sale on our street so I stopped. They had some jewelry so I picked out two rings that were $8 each. Before checking out I asked if they had any more to sell but they said no because people were there all day buying it. The rings I got were both large and one is market sterling (OK I did pay almost full silver value for it but it is a really nice ring) and the other is 14K. Around 5 grams of 14K worth about $100 just in gold weight. Today the stock market didn't know where it wanted to go so I gave up trading and went to a few yard sales. I picked up 3 necklaces at one sale for $3 that have about $13 in silver in them.
Funny thing is many times I "have" to buy a bag of jewelry just to get the one or two pieces I want. I take the excess and put it in bags for the yard sale. Our city has an annual sale at one of the parks and it was last weekend. We set up at the sale and I think I got about $40 for that "junk" jewelry at $.50 each. That is probably what I paid for all of the bags it came in plus I still have the silver. Ya just gotta love the fun of the hunt!!
