Last week, Eric Miller posted that he had found an interesting item from Aruba that may interest me. It did. It was a type of dealer button, the kind that denotes the dealer in a poker game, from a casino in Aruba. Eric got it from people who he sees in his work from Century Casino’s Inc. Century Casinos is a company that owns and manages small casinos in numerous locations, including Colorado, Canada, Poland and on Cruise ships. At the end of 2010, they took over the management of The Casino at the Radisson in Aruba. I just received the dealer button today (thanks, Eric!!) and thought I would share it with those who didn’t see Eric’s post last week.
Never content to just get the piece, I did a bit of research on it and here is what I came up with. The “PPC” is the Players Poker Championship Poker Tour. This year, 2014, their poker tour has events in Florida, Maryland, Nevada (Golden Nugget, Las Vegas), Mississippi (Horseshoe, Tunica) and Aruba, where they will hold their championship poker series. This is their second season. The front side shows the PPC Aruba logo. The back side shows a logo for Bar Gusto in Aruba. Gusto is a bar that is unaffiliated with and not located in the Radisson. It is located in Palm Beach across the street from the hotels which house most of Aruba’s casinos. The Radisson logo appears at the top and bottom on both sides. On the edge of the dealer button, it says Dealer and PPC Aruba divided by Radisson logos.
After some search, I managed to find one picture that shows the dealer button in use. You can see it in this picture of the winner of the 8th event in last year’s tournament series.
