Hayden,
If you take a step back and think about what you're suggesting that the chip rack publishers withhold information and lie about chip values, what would be the point? They don't control the chip market. They merely do an exhaustive research on eBay sales, and other known public sales to determine a "price guide". It would be impossible to print a new guide every time a horde is found or everytime a chip is sold. You're already complaining about the price, but would you pay $$$ every quarter or six months for a new guide? What if some new info is found the day after publishing, should they scrap the issues and reprint? I think not. Just like any hobby, the hobbiest needs to do their own due diligence in research, to determine if whatever they collect is bought or traded for at a price that is fair to all.
Just remember guides are guides, from Kelly Blue Book to the chip rack, actual realized values are set by the parties involved, not the publishers of such guides
