ChipGuide Fans,

About a year ago the ChipGuide started to experience growing pains and of late the pains became too much to bare. The ChipGuide was becoming too large and too many people were trying to access it. We now have over 130,000 items on the ChipGuide and almost 250,000 images. That's a lot. And lately we have been running 20,000 to 25,000 visitors a day, that is also a lot. If you recently visited the ChipGuide you may have gotten an SERVER 500 - Error, which means that the server was too busy to process your request. Well now we are doing something to relieve the pain. The ChipGuide is in the process of moving from a shared server to a dedicated server. Basically ... currently we share a server (computer) with a bunch of other websites and have limited resources. We will now have our own server and not have to share resources any longer. This will let us handle all the user visits and have plenty of room to grow.

While the migration is in process, the ChipGuide will be up, but there will NOT be any updates or new items added to the ChipGuide. You will also not be able to make any new submissions. The whole thing should take about 5 days to complete and once done, I will make another post on the ChipBoard letting you know that we are back in business.
