Sniping should be personal
In Response To: The bidding game ()

Yes, I do snipe auctions I think I have a chance of winning. I never use software to snipe though; I watch the auction, set a time clock, and submit the snipe bid at the optimum time. Having a program place my bids is not my way. If I'm too busy or miss the alarm or am outbid in the closing seconds, those are the breaks.

In the past few months, I've been handicapped by ebay losing my list of watched auctions. I don't know why this happens. It's not every time, but I've seen other user complaints about the same problem. You'd think ebay could fix this.

I'm amazed at how much the ebay experience has improved since they started up 20 some years ago. In the early years, they went down quite a bit, and sometimes the system didn't respond to your bid for a minute or so. I'm sorry to see them concentrate on mass selling by dealers rather than the hobbyist market where they started, but it's still the best and least expensive way to buy and sell collectibles.
