First thing is to clean your cache the defrag the hard drive. If you have a small amount of RAM memory you could add more. You may have too many processes running automatically when you start up but I am not sure which ones you can get rid of safely. Get AVG free for an antivirus and get rid of any other antivirus program you have. Some of them (like Norton) do nothing but slow up the machine.
