Tunica is really dying - very similar to AC. Ever since the flood in 2011 people went elsewhere and just never came back. Most of the poker rooms have closed leaving only Hollywood and Horseshoe with open rooms. The huge Harrahs property (formerly the Grand) is closing in two weeks or so. And that includes the golf course, hotels, sporting clays, convention center, etc. In their infinite wisdom Harrahs has apparently turned down offers for just the casino and hotels. Rumors are that Jack Binnion and others were interested. To show you how stupid Harrahs is, they have lots of "foreign" chips in the cage but will not sell me any of them. Instead they are going to destroy them. They also would not sell me even one set of roulette chips. I even asked about buying the whole rack after the redemption period and was told that Harrahs would never do that.

I stay at Hollywood because I like their poker room. But I went thru the casino at 7 AM on Thursday morning (yes I know that is early for any casino) and there were a total of 4 people on the whole casino floor who were not employees. The parking lot was almost empty. Even Horseshoe had very few people playing when I was there. Some casinos have even closed their table pits on 3rd shift. Most have cut back an incredible amount on their monthly mail offers. I have been getting free rooms, cash and buffets from Hollywood for 15 years. A few months ago everything just stopped. I didn't even get a free buffet offer. This trip I begged a free room from a host and played more than usual so they have this last chance to get my business or I will start going elsewhere.
