contractor on that job (HVAC, hydronics & plumbing). Most of the materials, workmanship or equipment presently installed or mothballed on the project are no longer under warranty, with the exception of Life/Safety systems and some switchgear & elevators. And while it might seem that it would be easy to simply change from a hotel structure to an apartment or condo structure, it isn't. Redesigning systems (mechanical, electrical/controls & plumbing) & their associated equipment "loads" as well as revamping what is currently installed would prove to be an extremely costly undertaking. At the time the project was halted, I believe that the "cost to complete" was a little over the billion dollar range. It's only gone up since then and to change occupancy use to something else would only increase those costs. It will be interesting to see what finally comes of it.
