Re: Borgota sues Phil Ivey
In Response To: Borgota sues Phil Ivey ()

I don't get it. I don't really understand baccarat in the first place...My questions:

Article says "came out of the dealer chute." Is that a "shoe"? Most shoes only have part of one long edge (edge design being the defect) of the top card showing.
Providing that there's not a "flap" blocking that view, how great of an advantage is it to "see" that first card? My understanding of Baccarat is that there is no decision to be made by the players in when a Player hand or Banker hand have another card drawn. If the casino is not protecting that first card from being seen, who's at fault?

Decks were faulty in their printing/design. And the casino didn't notice it for 6 months. Really? Who's at fault here for the player having the opportunity for an advantage?

Dealer turned the cards in the direction the player requested. Say what? I know that Baccarat players are a superstitious lot, and allowances are given. But, shouldn't the dealer be dealing the cards in ONLY the manner prescribed by the house? Shouldn't the floorman be supervising the dealer and giving a yes or no to any requests by the player to handle the cards in a certain way, if not already allowed for by their training. If they're allowed to do so without asking, then...

9 million dollars over 4 trips in 6 months, and nobody noticed. Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, third time it's enemy action. Nobody in management anywhere decided they should look at something, anything, after the second or third time a player wins millions, just even a glance?

So, they're going to sue him because they can't figure out how to protect multimillion dollar games in their own house!
I don't understand the casino business.
