The analogy Steve used earlier, about washing your car before trying to sell it, was a very good one.
Washing the car doesn't change the odometer reading, or add tread to the tires, or remove dents.
It only cleans the car so it looks better.
Same with a chip.
Cleaning it does not sharpen the edges or restore worn out cross-hatching.
It doesn't remove nicks from its edges or scratches from its surfaces.
It only removes the dirt and grim.
If anything, a cleaned chip makes it easier to see its TRUE condition.
Just my humble opinion.
