I purchased my set of these chips from Bruce Landau and I took ONE CHIP to the Trump Plaza cashier's window and asked to speak to a supervisor. When the cage supervisor appeared, I explained to him that I was a chip collector and that I am the author of a chip catalog on Atlantic City casino chips and I am seeking information on this chip. When was it issued? Was it ever used?, etc. The supervisor asked where I got the chip and I told him I purchased it at a local flea market. The supervisor asked me to wait here and he would see what he could find out. He returned a short time later and was accompanied by a Trump Plaza security officer, who asked that Brenda and I accompany him to the back office. There we were interrogated and were told to wait for a Casino Control Inspector to arrive from another property, as he had some additional questions for me. After about a half-hour to 40 minutes (and Brenda and I had show tickets for that evening and we hadn't eaten dinner yet), I told the Security officer that unless I was under arrest, we are not waiting any longer for the CCC Inspector ... and we got up and began to leave. I asked for my chip back ... which request was refused ... We were told that the chip never should have left the property, and CCC will want to know how it got out. I told them that they had my name, address and phone number in case they had any additional questions and we walked out and never heard anymore about it.
Lesson learned from this true experience.... NEVER, NEVER take a questionable chip to a casino for information. Always take a photo copy.
