Did you really mean for your message to come across as uncaring and apathetic as it appears?
Perhaps if the chipper community was a little more willing to educate newcomers rather than dismiss them with a terse retort, we would have a few more members (read: people willing to buy chips and maintain a reasonable intrinsic value for your collection). I don't think he was saying he was cheated by the hobby, as much as he was expressing his frustration at grasping what true market value was for what he was buying. Rather than showing him the door, try to help him remember why he walked in the room in first place.
The comments from people like Curt, John and Kirk makes me feel good about the community and gives me hope. Reading your comment just makes me wonder who failed you when you were just starting out as a collector.
I don't know you Eric, and I would never let a single post on here be the sole source of my opinion about someone. That being said, I talk a lot about being honest and possessing integrity. I feel I would be betraying those ideals if I didn't say this directly to you. Not trying to start a flame war, just trying to assure those sitting on the sidelines that all opinions are welcome and many would be willing to talk about them.
With Respect,
Sean
