Just to add 2 more cents to this. I've been collecting for maybe 20 years. What's my collection worth? No real idea since I haven't put a value on each chip. I have on some (those that I purchased for more than a few dollars over face and complete sets). One quick story on value. I purchased a $5.00 chip a few years back at the convention for something like $50,00. I knew it was a rare chip, it completed my collection for that casino, so I felt it was a fair price. Maybe a month later I bought a second one for $8.00! So, what's its value? I marked it at $25.00 should I ever sell one of them. Value is what a willing buyer will pay a willing seller. Simple as that.
