this club & many on this bulletin board are the best source of information about the chip collecting hobby, as continues to be shown through regular posts from Gene Trimble, Ed Hertel, Luis Alvarez, John Benedict and... Before you put your money down on a pricey chip or two, it's well worth the time & effort to ask on this BB about current values...I'm sure that you will get some advice or past sales.
Before I found this bulletin board & joined the*cc*, I depended on descriptions within auctions for true & accurate information -- my mistake. Even now, sellers quote rarities & pricing from the 4th edition of the Official US Casino Chip Price Guide when many of those prices & rarities no longer coincide with today's market. But also understand that it is a buyer-driven market -- if someone tries to sell something that is over-priced, it is that seller's prerogative to do so. And you can't fault someone for trying to make as much money as they can on a sale. Being informed is the best defense against paying too much.
