I would like to hear from someone (hopefully in the industry) that can give me some more in depth details about comps. The main question I have is for this situation. I normally stay and play at Hollywood in Tunica. I was invited to a free BJ tournament at Harrahs that included two free nights. When in town I will still play at Hollywood (especially poker) but some BJ also. But I will be staying at Harrahs. Would I be better off staying at Hollywood (it is also comped)? Do they want you to use the room comps so you are "trapped" on the property or does it not matter? Do they only look at the play not what comps (rooms, food, etc) are used? I have been having problems with Hollywood lately since I have been going every 6 weeks instead of every month as in the past. Now they have cut my comps severely. I can't give up on them yet since I have so many comp dollars built up that I do not want to just give away (I have been going there for 15 years). They had no problems for years giving me free rooms any time. Lately it was just weeknights and they wanted money on the weekends. They used to send coupons good for free play and now they have cut the amount of free play. Since they have the only $3/$6 game in town I would like to continue to stay there but if I can get better comps at a place like Harrahs (where I can use them all over the country) I will make the change. Any thought are appreciated.
