Had a pretty good find in Northern Kentucky today. After months and months of the same old thing turning up, a guy called me the other day and told me he had some interesting things that he found at a yard sale. When he sent me a picture of the chips, I couldn't believe it, wow, defiantly not the average chips that I have been running across. There were two different styles of Glenn rendezvous (Newport Ky), chips. The red, or dark purple $5.00, I had seen before, but I only knew one person that has one. The other chip looks like it may have been a white or light grey at one time, but now has taken on a greenish tint for some reason. I have never seen or heard of a $1.00 denomination Hourglass chip until now. I have seen chips take on a different color before when stored with chips of another color, but I cant see how the red chip would make the other ones look green. I asked him if there were any other color chips other than these and he told me there were just the two colors. All in all, a pretty satisfying day. I also purchased from him a Lookout house menu, Latin Quarter photo holder, Snax Bar dice, leather dice cup, and some old photos from Newport (photos look to be 1930's, judging from the cars in the pictures). Sorry about the quality of the scans, I think it may be time to upgrade to better scanner technology.....
