In the Detroit area ...
In Response To: NCR snow on roofs in nw WI ()

In January only, Detroit had 39.1 inches of snow. This shattered the previous record of 29.6 inches in 1978. Ann Arbor recorded 37.8 inches in January, breaking the old record of 36 inches in 1999. Flint was the third city to break January snowfall records, with 32.9 inches. Previously 1976 saw 28.5 inches of snow fall in January in Flint.

With that said, Detroit so far for the season has had 76.4 inches, surpassing the record set in 1981-82 and making this one the 3rd snowiest winter on record. The most Detroit-area snow ever recorded in a season fell in 1880-81, totaling 93.6 inches. The winter of 1925-26 saw 78.9 inches for second place. There is still 31 days left of winter. Where will we end up???

I am only stating the Detroit area, as I do know that other areas in the state & country do get MORE, has seen allot more than our NORMAL snowfall. Until today, we have had no temps to melt any snow since Christmas. For the month of January, our average temp was 16º which is 9º lower than our normal. YEA, tomorrow will be 45º and now flooding will start.
