An armed society is a polite society :-)
But seriously, I've been robbed at gunpoint 3 times. Multiple 1,000's of dollars in cash each time from my family's restaurant in Los Angeles County CA.
Do you think that even after the second time I could get an OK for a Gun Carry Permit from my local Police Chief? No way. His officers could protect me...
Third time I was forced to open the safe at gun point, then thrown to the floor, gagged with a filthy rag, and hogtied with an electrical cord. Cops were nowhere to be found. Oh, they arrived quickly enough half an hour later when I finally got one hand free and knocked the phone off the desk to call 911.
Do you think that I even cared about the legality of carrying a gun at work after that?
Not everything is cut and dried in this longstanding debate. Logic taken to extreme won't help either side. But there does need to be a loosening of the Carry Permit laws (in California, and several other states) so that people who care to do so, have the OPTION of protecting themselves.
